Securing our RED Award for school’s commitment to Equality, Diversity and Respect

Over the last 18 months school have been working on an action plan to enhance and embed strategies and approaches which celebrate diversity and inclusion, in all its forms, across school.

Mr Hampson led the school community in reviewing the curriculum, including all subject areas, to increase children’s exposure to and understanding of diversity.

We have scrutinised and extended the diversity of historical figures and events we research, musicians, artist and scientists we study, alongside sporting role models and inspiring communities.

We have also considered learning environments, communications, displays and books in schools to echo and celebrate diversity and equality.

Being respectful has always been one of our Golden Rules and is woven through our interactions with each other, our community and the wider world. Assemblies and planned time to debate and discuss the views of others helps the children to consider equality, and their role in ensuring all our behaviours celebrate equality and inclusion.
