Whartons hopes go WEST…gate!
New kit…new image…maybe…but a new winning formula is still required.
To ‘honour’ those who have attended practices regularly, 12 players took part in Wednesday’s match (at home) against Westgate…a side that has played together since Year 3!
Conditions were far from perfect… bumpy, muddy ground…but it was the same for both teams.
Westgate opened the scoring and despite reasonable marking, they were soon 2 goals up. Just before half-time a goal-mouth scramble resulted in a home goal for Kyran Taylor. (Half-time 2-1 to Westgate.)
In spite of a serious half-time talk; the absence of the 1st choice keeper weakened the team. Good shots on target failed to enter the net for the home team; whereas Westgate went from strength to strength to score 3 more goals (one of those just seconds before the final whistle).
Final score 5-1 to Westgate.
